McClure statement on Budget/SOTS Address

State Senator Steve McClure (R-Springfield) released the following statement following the Governor’s Budget and State of the State address:

“While the Governor is trying to paint a glowing outlook for his budget proposal, the truth is that he is spending $2.5 billion on expanding government programs while only offering families modest and temporary tax relief. When the federal funding runs out, the bills will come due, and it won’t be pretty.”

“When it comes to dealing with the ongoing violent crime crisis, the Governor’s only solution is to spend more. It’s going to take a lot more than just money to make a dent in our fight against violent crime. Our caucus has put forward solutions, and we hope that the Governor will come to the table to work with us to fight crime.”
