State Senator Steve McClure (R-Springfield) released the following statement regarding the United States Department of Justice’s lawsuit against Illinois:
“Governor Pritzker, Mayor Johnson, and their Democratic allies throughout the state have made it clear that their priority is to protect criminals over the safety of law-abiding citizens. That is a policy that has been present not just in immigration statutes, but also in criminal law. Unless these change drastically, the citizens of our state will remain in danger. This is why I support the U.S. Department of Justice’s lawsuit to force Democratic officials in our state to comply with federal laws.”
