SPRINGFIELD- State Senator Steve McClure (R-Springfield) released the following statement after the passage of Senate Bill 25:
“The people I represent have been slammed by out-of-control hikes in their electric bills, all due to the Governor’s power legislation that he pushed through just a few years ago. Now, instead of fixing the real issues and providing much-needed relief, he and his allies are ramming through a new bill that will only make the situation worse.
“In short, this new energy legislation represents an $8 billion hike on the families of Illinois. Instead of shoring up our grid, this new plan will rely on unproven technologies that will only increase the chance of rolling brownouts. Worse yet, the plan takes away local control and will allow battery storage facilities to be built just 150 feet away from homes. The people of this state can’t afford to pay any more, and they deserve a stable power supply. I voted against this reckless catastrophe.”
