State Senator Steve McClure (R-Springfield) released the following statement after the Illinois Senate adjourned in the early morning hours of April 9th:
“This was a unique legislative session, from beginning to end. I’m proud that I was able to advance some good legislation, including a bill to help frontline DCFS workers to protect themselves. We were able to get some additional funding for our struggling police departments, and some minor tax relief for the people of Illinois.
“It was extremely disappointing, however, that the super majority party refused to advance any kind of permanent tax relief, opting instead for short-term gimmicks that expire after the next election. Worse yet, they blocked any and all legislation that would actually hold violent criminals accountable and keep them behind bars.”
