Springfield- State Senator Steve McClure (R-Springfield) released the following statement regarding the death of former governor Jim Thompson:
“The people of Illinois have lost one of their greatest public servants. I would not be a state senator today if not for Jim Thompson. He gave both of my parents their starts in public service and always gave me great advice. As a prosecutor, he fought against corruption, and as governor, he fostered an atmosphere of bipartisanship that is sorely missed today. He was one of the people who inspired me to get involved in public service, and I hope his legacy will inspire many more for years to come.”
